Working with Wilfred
and Associates of London, an unusual interactive gallery
was created that not only respected the unique character
of the building but also created a foil for the building.
The gallery space was unusual in that the two-storey high
space was entirely glazed on all four sides, intended
to allow visual connections with other parts of the building
and the exterior.
The project was also unusual in that the development of
exhibits also included the participation of a number of
artists and developers of new audio visual technologies
during the design phase of the project. The open nature
of the space relates directly to the open nature of the
exhibits. Children and their parents can experience a
wide variety of exhibits that encourage them to explore
their creativity.
To break down barriers between people and traditional
artistic tools, non-traditional methods of expression
are used: painting with light, making music by moving
your body, composing a poem by selecting words and images
floating across a screen. |

Taking advantage of the
openness of the building and the scale of display elements,
a lighting program constantly changes the perception
of interior forms to create a huge piece of public art
throughout the evening hours.
