Par-Tek was contacted
by Mr. Drew Gibson, of Telecom
Computer in March of 2000, to direct the design and
construction of a new computer room for EC
Webworks, an internet-based application service provider.
The design challenge was to provide EC Webworks with a
"show piece" computer room that would instantly
command the attention of visitors and prospective blue
chip clients. Several ideas were discussed, including
Crystal Film Privacy Glass, as provided by Polyvision.
This film, when electrified, transforms to appearing completely
opaque, providing a now you see it, now you don't effect.
However, this interesting product did not fit the project
budget. |

Par-Tek was able
to achieve the design intent by sourcing a highly reflective
3M™ window film, which was applied to the new glazing
wall, as seen in the photos here. This design element
required a high degree of control over lighting in the
computer room and the adjacent area. The desired effect
required new horizontal blinds to a large skylight and
replacement of most of the fluorescent lighting with 75
watt low-voltage halogens, both inside the computer room
and facing the glazing wall. After some minor adjustments
and the addition of a third bank of halogen lights inside
the computer room, EC Webworks was delighted with the
final result. |
